Editor’s Note: The author received a free F1 X EOTECH Edition knife from TEKTO for this review. All opinions are the author’s.
When I first saw the TEKTO F1 Alpha × EOTECH collaboration on Instagram, my interest was immediately piqued. As I am already an EOTech fan for its high-quality, reliable optics, when their branding appears on a knife my expectations are naturally high. EOTECH wouldn’t just slap its name on some cheap knock-off blade, so I knew it was one worth checking out first-hand.
I wasn’t in the market for a new knife necessarily, as I carry my Benchmade Bugout six out of seven days a week. However, TEKTO was kind enough to send this out for review, so who am I to say no?
After spending several weeks carrying and using the TEKTO F1 Alpha, I can speak to where I see it fitting in the everyday carry world.
First Impressions
Right out of the box, the knife makes a strong first impression. Even before getting to the knife itself, the packaging is clean and professional, proudly showcasing the collaboration with both logos present.
Taking the knife out of the box, you’ll find the EOTECH branding on the blade, pocket clip, and handle. While it isn’t overly flashy, I do wish that the pocket clip was left blank. Regardless, it doesn’t look gimmicky. Instead, it feels like a tool that just happens to wear a respected name.
Flipping the blade open with the thumb assist revealed a silky-smooth action thanks to the ceramic ball bearings. It came sharp enough to cut paper with ease right out of the box, which is always my first quick test.
From a first-impression standpoint, its action and blade looked good-to-go. It was then time to start putting it to use.
Features To Focus On
Arguably, the most important feature of any pocketknife is the blade itself. In the case of the F1 Alpha, you get a 3.1” D2 steel blade with a black titanium coating. It strikes a solid balance between edge retention and toughness, while remaining relatively easy to maintain. The black coating looks great, but it does wear quickly, which is something to take note of.
Blade shape plays a big role in how a knife performs in real-world tasks as well, and the F1 Alpha does a good job here. The drop-point profile offers a long, usable cutting edge. It’s versatile enough to handle quick detail work as well as longer slicing tasks, which is exactly what you want from an everyday carry blade.
The handle is constructed from G10 and provides enough texture to feel secure without being overly aggressive or sticking to your pocket. Keeping it secure in your pocket is a deep-carry pocket clip.
Last but certainly not least, at the rear of the knife you’ll find a glass breaker integrated into the design. Features like this aren’t something most people will use often, but if you ever need them you’re certainly glad they’re there.
Daily Carry & More
In real-world performance, the TEKTO F1 Alpha proved itself as a reliable and functional EDC knife. I carried it almost daily, using it for all the mundane tasks but also some out-of-the-ordinary ones, too. From opening packages to cutting cords to whittling, it did not skip a beat.
While the blade’s coating showed wear quickly, the edge held up perfectly and remained super sharp. After weeks of cutting and heavy use, it still managed to pass the paper test I mentioned.
It sits nice and low in your pocket and stays put, thanks to the proper amount of pre-determined pocket clip tension. Plus, the addition of the glass breaker gives a higher sense of confidence as a true everyday carry knife, which is an appreciated touch.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- D2 blade is extremely durable and sharp
- G10 handles are lightweight yet sturdy
- Well-placed texturing and jimping provides superior control
- The aesthetic and logos are subtle yet attractive
- Glass breaker provides additional peace of mind
Cons:
- The blade’s black titanium coating shows wear quickly
Conclusion
After spending time with the TEKTO F1 Alpha EOTECH Edition, it’s clear that this isn’t just an expensive marketing piece. It’s a capable everyday carry knife that blends tactical styling with practical design. It’s comfortable to carry, easy to use, and reliable across a wide range of tasks.
Price is always part of the conversation, and while this knife isn’t the cheapest option in the EDC market at $139.99, it feels appropriately priced for what you’re getting. Between the materials, build quality, smooth action, and overall finish, it delivers solid value.
Whether you’re an EOTECH fan looking to add a matching blade to your kit or simply someone in the market for a quality EDC knife, this one deserves a serious look.
